Our first interview for the inaugural show of A Separate Reality will be novelist, short story writer and filmmaker Ronald Malfi. We will have him on air in the second hour.

Malfi has attained cult status among fans of the horror genre, with novels such as Snow, Cradle Lake and The Fall of Never. He also writes adventure thrillers like The Ascent and psychological horror, with Via Dolorosa, The Floating Staircase, and Passenger. His crime thriller, Shamrock Alley , is based on a real case of his father’s when his father was an undercover agent with the Secret Service/US. Treasury. He sold a movie idea to Paramount, Triggerfish, based on a five-page outline, and has dabbled in the indie filmmaking world.

Like the show’s host, Ron has recently become a father and has a toddler, Madison.

We will be talking to Ron about the quickly changing publishing industry, writing genre fiction, the challenges of making a living as a freelance writer, fatherhood, and booze.

I haven’t had the chance to read any of this guy’s stuff, and I’m looking forward to my opinion of this interview being the deciding factor now!

I write a little horror fiction myself over at my own blog, feel free to check it out if you’re ever bored 🙂

Your Host - April 11, 2012

I would recommend his novels PASSENGER or SNOW as a good start, both are available in print and ebook form. He has some stories on various websites.

Oh cool, I’ll check out a few of those stories first then 🙂 Thanks again!
